Basotho have many children. There is usually about five or more children. In some of the country they have changed, and don't do this. Common in both rural and urban to live with extended family to live together. Many Basotho people have crops and livestock. A family's wealth is shown by how many cattle they have. The Basotho grow crops around their village. Basotho build their houses around the cattle. The women do most of the outside work. Women do farm work, and road construction. Women make many of the household decisions. Women even build the house. Men herd cattle and work in South Africa.
